Mientras escribo estas líneas escucho la canción "Ángel" del grupo kpop Berry Good.* Nada como el kpop para subirle el ánimo a uno. Posee una exuberancia y optimismo que antes eran característicos de la música estadounidense (de las orquestas big band o del rock), pero que esta parece haber perdido en décadas recientes.

Será que en Corea existen ahora motivos para el optimismo que en Estados Unidos no hemos tenido desde los años cuarenta, cincuenta, sesenta y setenta. Sin embargo, es bueno saber que en alguna parte del mundo sigue reinando el optimismo—y que se puede acceder a él desde otras partes.

Hoy tocaba plantar unos bulbos y semillas en el jardín: bok choi, cilantro, lechuga, rábanos, mizuna, cebollas y ajo. Igual como el kpop, también son símbolos del optimismo la primavera, las semillas y el plantar un jardín. Todos representan la fe y la esperanza en el futuro—quizás hasta en un futuro mejor.
