Many words in Spanish and English are similar, but similar words can have very different meanings, so be careful.


Here are words 266 to 275 to know in Spanish:

poco  little, few (poco, poca, pocos, pocas)

mucho  much, many (mucho, mucha, muchos, muchas)

grande  big; great (gran, grande, grandes)

algo  something; somewhat

alguno some, someone; any; none at all (algún, alguno, alguna);  algunos, algunas  some, someone; any; a few

ninguno none, no one; any (ningún, ninguno, ninguna, ningunos, ningunas)

nuevo  new (nuevo, nueva, nuevos, nuevas)

viejo  old (viejo, vieja, viejos, viejas)

casi  almost

nunca  never; ever

'Grande' is always shortened to 'gran' if it appears immediately before a noun.

'Alguno' and 'ninguno' are shortened to 'algún' and 'ningún' when they are used immediately before a masculine noun. 'Alguna' and 'ninguna' may become 'algún' and 'ningún' when used immediately before a feminine noun beginning with an accented 'a' sound ('a' or 'ha').

'Alguno' can take on the emphatic negative meaning 'none at all' when combined with 'no' [not; no] or 'sin' [without] earlier in the sentence.
